🎯 Goal Setting (Without Losing Your Mind)
It’s that time of year where we start setting goals for our business.
And honestly? It can feel super daunting and frustrating.
Whether you’re running a network marketing biz, a brick and mortar, or just creating content online… we all try to set goals.
For me personally, goals kind of freak me out. They can set me up for mental spirals if I’m not careful. Of course I want to do better every year. But if I set some huge goal and miss it month after month, I go straight into the “I’m a failure” mentality.
That may not be you, and if it’s not, you do you.
But if you’re a little like me, keep reading.
I’m going to share some of my favorite ways to set goals that don’t wreck your mindset.
1️⃣ Set Realistic Goals (With a Little Kiss)
My husband always says, “If your goals don’t scare you, they aren’t big enough.”
And while there’s some truth in that, I think we need a few realistic goals first — with a little KISS on them.
For this, KISS = Keep It Slightly Stretched. Not wild. Not double. Just a little “kiss” higher.
Example:
If you brought in an average of $500/month in 2025, jumping straight to $1,000/month in 2026 is a huge leap. That’s literally doubling your results.
Instead, take that $500 and give it a little kiss — maybe $700/month.
It’s still growth. It still stretches you. But it doesn’t feel impossible.
You can always bump it again once you hit it.
2️⃣ Focus on What You Can Control
Can we control our sales? Not really.
We can control:
- Our effort
- Our conversations
- Our content
Sales are the result. Our actions are the input.
So yes, set an income or sales goal if you want — but also set action goals you fully control.
Some ideas:
- A consistent content goal (ex: posting 2–3 times a week every week)
- A conversations goal (ex: 5 conversations a day, 5 days a week)
If you weren’t tracking convos in 2025 (who, what, how many), start now. You might look back and go, “Dang, I really wasn’t talking to that many people.”
Try:
- 25 conversations a week with new people, past customers, businesses, etc.
Yes, it sounds scary. But you can absolutely do it.
3️⃣ Pick One Area to Organize in 2026
Of course I’m going to tell you to get organized. 😂
But don’t say, “I’m going to organize my whole business this year.”
Because… you’re not. And then you’ll feel bad about it.
Instead, pick ONE part of your business to organize in the first quarter:
- Your customer list
- Your photos and content
- Your follow-up system
- Your monthly calendar
When goals are too big and vague, they don’t stick.
Smaller, specific goals with a little “kiss” on them? Way more manageable.
✨ Bonus Tip: Keep Your Goals Where You Can See Them
Don’t just think them — write them:
- On a piece of paper
- In your planner
- As your phone lock screen
If you see them every day, you’re way more likely to actually do them.
“Out of sight, out of mind” is a real thing.
