Feeling Overwhelmed? 5 Simple Ways to Get Organized in Your Online Business
Sometimes us online people get paralyzed because we have 5,000,000 things we want to do, things we should do, but no idea where to start. I’ve been there, staring at the screen with my coffee going cold, wondering which ‘urgent’ thing actually matters most. These are my 5 tips that help me get out of that spiral and back into action.
These are my 5 tips to hopefully help you with that.
1️⃣ Keep Your Online Presence Alive
My 1st goal when i sit down is to make sure my online presence is running. We run an online business. So i make sure i have posts scheduled for at least 2-4 days in the future. Example: it is monday, im going to make sure im scheduled on socials until at bare minimum wednesday. If im not, this is my first thing im going to do. We run an online business, we need to make sure we are online
2️⃣ Check on Every Order (and Every Step)
Check on ALL order statuses. Did i have orders come in overnight? Did we send tracking? Did we check in on orders delivered? This is an important step in our business. Making sure all orders and the parts of those orders are done. Sending the thank yous, sending the tracking, sending the follow up (Feel overwhelmed by this? I’ve got a great tracker to help, check it out here)
3️⃣ Plan Ahead Like Future You Will Thank You
Plan ahead after those 2 things are done. 1 & 2 are hugely important pieces of your business, online presence and then customer care. Those need to be done before other things. After those are done, im going to plan ahead. Is there a holiday/bundle/deal/ etc that needs preped for? This is a great time to create graphics, an email campaign, schedule posts for this upcoming item. What about batching content? Look ahead, look at the calendar, do you have a trip? or something coming up? Let’s get things in place so that your business runs while you are gone
4️⃣ Theme Your Days to Save Your Brain
Themes. Im a theme junky. Give me a theme and i’ll run the world, ok not quiet but you get it. Sometimes breaking your tasks down to a specific day really really helps. Media monday = getting all your social media scheduled, batched, created, planned on monday. Tracking tuesday = all order tracking is done, send the tracking emails, send the order delivery emails, send the thank you/thank you emails, etc. wellness wednesday = take care of yourself wednesday, Follow up friday = follow up with businesses, customers, teammates, etc, Social Saturday = another day to get your socials ahead, or planned and designed and mapped out. Sunday is always my brain dump day, get the ideas out of my head and onto paper to deal with next week. These are just suggestions, but sometimes taking tasks and attaching them to specific days helps you think less. It is tuesday so i always do XYZ on tuesday.
5️⃣ Use the “Tiny Time” Moments
Time is always a factor. We are doing life on top of doing this. Sometimes we feel like we don’t even have 5 extra mins. But real life, we do. We all absent mindly scroll, we bedrot and watch RHOSLC. It is normal and needed. So, we work around that. If you are bedrotting watching tv, work during the commericals. (unless you are fancy and have the no commercial plans lol). Yes, i know those breaks are short…but if you add up the average 5-6 breaks in an hour show. With each break being about a min long. so that gives you about 5 mins of work. Sure that isn’t a lot, but i bet you can schedule at least 2 posts in that time, or send an email. When you are waiting in the pick up line/check out line/the clicklist person to deliver whatever…use that time to schedule a post or send an email. I understand that this isn’t going to work as a full “work” time. But it is truly better than nothing, right.
These are always my top 5 suggestions when people ask me how i get so much done in a day. Not everything is going to work for everyone. And sometimes you have to moosh and smoosh several ideas together to figure out what works for you. But i promise you, if you really want to be successful at your business you will 100% find the time.
If you want help organizing your online world, stick around. I’m always making tools, templates, and planners that make all of this easier — start with the tracker I mentioned above and subscribe to the newsletter to always be in the known.
