Trying New Things (Without Overwhelming Yourself)
Remember last month when we talked about what to do when things slow down?
One of those tips was to try new things.
And this is where people go a little wild 😅
You’re like:
“Okay, I’m going to start Reels, TikTok, YouTube, Blogging…and maybe interpretive dance.”
All at the same time.
Stop.
When I say try new things, I mean one thing at a time. Here’s why.
If you try 10 new things at once, you’re going to:
- get overwhelmed
- get frustrated
- feel like you’re drowning
- and then decide you “failed”
And that’s not what we want heading into the busy fall season.
Step 1️⃣ — Make the List
Write out all the things you’ve been wanting to try but haven’t had time for.
Don’t overthink it. Just brain dump:
- reels
- texting
- YouTube
- blogging
- whatever else has been sitting in your head
Step 2 — Pick the One That Makes Sense
Now look at that list and be honest with yourself.
Some things sound fun… but are they actually realistic right now?
Start with something that:
- feels doable
- fits your business
- you’ve been meaning to try anyway
We’re not chasing perfection here — we’re going for a win.
Step 3 — Actually Do It
Yep. That’s the step 😂
Take your one thing and start.
It might take a week or two to feel natural. That’s normal. But once it clicks, it becomes part of your routine.
And that feeling of:
“Oh wait…I actually did this”
That’s what builds momentum.
⭐ Bonus Tip — Stack When You Can
Some things can work together.
Example:
- Reels + YouTube Shorts
- Facebook + Instagram
- Blog + email
You don’t always have to create more — sometimes you just need to reuse smarter.
Slow seasons aren’t just for waiting.
They’re for building.
So when things pick back up, you’re not starting from scratch — you’re stepping into something stronger.
What’s the one new thing you want to try this season?
xoxo,
Amber G
